What is a Solenoid Valve?

A Solenoid Valve is an electro mechanical device for allowing or preventing the flow of a substance

Why use a Solenoid Valve?

A Solenoid Valve is an ideal device for controlling liquids, air, gases etc in a machine, domestic water supply etc.

What does Normally Closed and Normally Open mean?

• When the valve is ‘Normally Closed’, the valve requires electrical power to open.
• When the valve is ‘Normally Open’, the valve requires power to close.

Can Solenoid Valve be used in any application, from an Oil Rig to a Domestic Application?

Due to the electrical actuation, Solenoid Valves fall into two categories:

• Safe Area. Where explosive gases are not present in the atmosphere.
• Explosive Area. Where explosive gases are present in the atmosphere.

How do I choose the Body Material:

Different body materials are available, which can influence valve selection when considering the media compatibility. For instance, Stainless Steel could be specified for chemicals.

What Size Solenoid Valve do I need?

The valve port sizes are used to connect the valve to the pipe work. Our range is from 1/8” to 12”.
